Where we are
Apartment Holzgasse is located in the centre of the old village of Andermatt - a short walk from shops, restaurants and ski lifts and with a fabulous views of the Gemsstock mountain from all rooms.
Historic Andermatt
Situated on the strategically important Gotthard Pass route, Andermatt has long been of historic and military importance. It has played host to a number of famous visitors over the years, including the Russian General Alexander Suvorov during his Napoleonic campaign, the German poet Wolfgang Goethe, Queen Victoria and James Bond!
Gotthardstrasse and the village centre
Gotthardstrasse is at the heart of the old village. A quaint cobbled street with traditional Swiss houses and a host of shops and restaurants and an ancient bridge crossing the river which runs through the village. Apartment Holzgasse is conveniently located on this beautiful street but facing the Gemsstock mountain at the back - thus being quiet as well as central.
Andermatt in Winter
One of the most snow-sure destinations in Switzerland, Andermatt is a haven for powder-loving free riders and advanced skiers but also caters for families and beginners. The ski area includes an avalanche training centre, a freestyle park, a ski school and children's snowpark.
For non-skiers there is cross-country skiing, sledging and snowshoe touring.
More gentle activities include guided walks and horse drawn sledge rides.
Andermatt in Summer
With a World Class 18 hole golf course in the village, as well as Realp's course which is the highest in Europe, Andermatt is the Swiss golf destination. In addition, there are fabulous walks over mountains and lakes. And just an hour's drive into Ticino, you can be swimming in the beautiful lakes of Lugano or Locarno.
